Mirimbah Park and Playground is a stunning picnic stop at the base of Mt Buller and Mt Stirling, set alongside the crystal-clear Delatite River, which looks incredibly inviting but is seriously icy cold. This parkland is the perfect place for a toilet break, leg stretch and play before heading up to the snow, with a playground featuring swings, slides and rockers to help wriggly back-seat passengers burn off some energy. The tiny town of Mirimbah also has a great general store where you can grab lunch, fuel or an easy picnic spread (and yes, a lamington to keep little kids happy), with friendly staff who are always happy to share local tips for nearby adventures.
