Caribbean Rollarama: An eastside institution for over four decades, Caribbean Rollarama is the go-to roller skating rink for lessons, fast laps, and roller discos. Whether you prefer skates or blades, the rink welcomes everyone to hone their skills. Lessons cater to all levels—from beginners to pros—and Mamma’s 6-year-old quickly learned marching steps, getting up from falls, and even little jumps, all under the guidance of patient and encouraging instructors. Expect plenty of spills, proud smiles, and a little bit of exhaustion!

Chesterfield Farm in Scoresby is where it’s at for a full-on family farmyard adventure. Set on a huge property right along Eastlink, this farm is home to almost every animal you can imagine—sheep, cattle, pigs, chickens, horses, donkeys, goats, alpacas, deer, camels, kangaroos, emus, and even cuddly rabbits. The best way to explore is on one of the tractor rides (available as an add-on), letting you choose which animals to feed first—Mamma recommends the gentle deer over the spitty alpacas! Little ones will love the nursery for cuddling rabbits and dodging playful pigs, and there are plenty of spots to rest, including a sandpit to play Farmer Frank. Activities run throughout the day, with a timetable provided on entry, and there’s a café serving hot and cold food along with a retail shop featuring local produce and gifts.

National Steam Museum – Scoresby is a charming and nostalgic spot, perfect for exploring with little kids, especially if they’re fascinated by big, classic machinery and old-school engines. Every Sunday, you can wander through the museum’s buildings and outdoor displays to see how things used to work in the past, with plenty of large, impressive engines to marvel at. While there are some interactive exhibits, it’s mainly about the “WOW” factor when you see those enormous machines. The best way to explore the outdoor displays (which stretch across a couple of footy fields) is aboard the mini rail. For just $3 a ride, you can board at the Scoresby platform and take a fun loop around the centre, with the breeze in your hair and kids laughing along the way. If you visit on the last Sunday of the month, you can catch the monthly running day, where some of the machines come to life and show off their steam-powered might. The museum is run by passionate volunteers, who love sharing their knowledge and making the experience even more special.
