Mooroolbark and District Miniature Railway is a magical little adventure for young train enthusiasts, and it’s easy to see why kids (and Mamma!) love it. Running every fourth Sunday, this charming suburban railway lets little ones hop aboard the miniature trains for just $3 a ride – a real bargain. The trains chug along a track that includes a tunnel, a bridge crossing, and plenty of waving opportunities to onlookers on the footbridge. There’s lots of space in the centre of the railway for picnics or a snack from the kiosk, making it perfect for a leisurely afternoon spent watching the trains go round and round. Mamma still remembers reading a seven-year-old’s diary about their excitement on this very railway – a memory that captures the joy this spot brings every time.
