Noojee – often called “Nooj” – is a charming town on the Latrobe River in Western Gippsland, rich in pioneering history. The town is famous for two treasures: the Noojee Hotel and the Noojee Trestle Bridge, the tallest surviving trestle bridge in Victoria at just over 100 metres long. Families can admire the bridge from below or climb the steep staircase to the top. For a bigger adventure, take the easy 6 km return trail from the station car park off Mt Tourist Road, spot the historic J-550 train, and enjoy the crisp mountain air while learning about the area’s logging history at the Heritage Centre.
